36mm is a great size, and is also a good size for most once they've got used to it.

I used to love larger watches, but as my taste has evolved after 10+ years in the hobby, I see see a shift to smaller watches for sure.

For daily all round wearers, I've really got back into Vintage 34mm Oyster Precision Manuals for Rolex. I have had a couple fully restored by RSC so they are back to like new and have been tested to 100m WR. I find they wear more like a 36mm, but are really slim and comfortable due to the thinner Manual movement. Look good with casual, even better with a suit and they really melt to the wrist where they are so comfortable.

For proper tool watch usage or going to the beach, I find 39mm to be a nice size & default to modern Tudor with a BB58 Blue which I wear either on Bracelet or a Vanguard Blue Intrgrated Rubber Strap or my BB Pro on Bracelet or a generic Crafter Blue Rubber Black Strap.

At the end of the day though, we’re all different so whatever floats your boat go with it.

Fashions will come and go - the only certainty is change.

The diameter of a watch bothers me less than the thickness. I’ve got to a point where I can’t wear a top heavy thicker watch. I don’t mind whether a watch is 36mm or 42mm as long as it sits close to the wrist and wears comfortably.
