Thoughts on the DateJust ll??

So for those of you who own the new Date Just ll and for those who have an opinion on the DJ2, what are your feelings about the watch??
I have been primarily a sport watch guy leaning to the Sub family but have fond memories of my past Date Just -- it was just too small. Have been really thinking about the new ll and looking for some opinions.
How does it wear?
Is it easy to dress down on the weekends with jeans and a tee shirt or is it pretty dressy?
Other thoughts?

I have a DJII with the light blue dial with romans. For me it is far from being too dressy for jeans or shorts. I think it can be worn with jeans and polo as well as a suit. My reason for buying it was I wanted something different than another sports watch, already have a GMTIIC, DSSD and Daytona. At the time I was going to get the ceramic blue sub but didn't bond with it at the jewelers although it is growing on me and will probably get it one day. It is comfortable to wear and the fluted bezel does sparkle in the sunlight. I like the larger size as it is easier to get used to when switching from the sports models. Have fun deciding.

It would be too big for my wrists, but I completely understand why Rolex have introduced it - if it means more people can enjoy a Datejust, then I'm all for it. Having the 41mm DJ II in the range underlines the fact that the Datejust is the most factory customisable watch in the world.

I just picked up my first Rolex - which just happens to be a DJII .. also with the blue dial and the romans .... absolutely love it!
I was originally looking at Submariners... but fortunately my jewellery store had the DJII .... I spotted it just as I was about to close the deal on a Submariner ... and the rest was history :)

I really liked the 'elegant simplicity' of the watch.... if it's possible to look stunning and yet understated at the same time then this watch certainly does. The size does give it a certain 'masculinity', and for me I felt it was the perfect size.

In the steel/white gold/blue dial combination, I really felt it could be a perfect 'all occasion' watch for me ..... The other color combinations maybe a little too much for my personal taste for dressing down at the weekends, but that's a very personal decision.

Definitely worth going and checking one out.....

It is nice, but I have always like the datejust with the jubilee bracelet. I might like it more if and/or when they offer that option.

One of the biggest reasons also why i got classic DJ instead of DJII, perhaps my 6.5" wrist..

IMO DJII is a great addition to any collection if you wanted a DJ but is unsure of the more classical 36mm size.

I have a TT DJII and have no issue with casual and smart casual wear. It can be dressed up and/or down. The SS has no problem also.

There are many dials available, so if you fancy it, I'm sure you will find something you like. Atm the SS with blue numbers seem like a popular option.

Do a search and there has been a few DJII threads lately.

I'd owned two DJ's in the past, and always felt they were small when switching b/w my other watches (Subs, Daytonas, PAM, Breitling) -

I just received yesterday a DJII (TT w/ slate dial, green roman num) and feel like (for me - 7.5" wrist) I've finally found a DJ that feels right on my wrist. I'd be perfectly comfortable wearing it with a suit or with jeans.

That said, I could certainly understand someone with smaller wrists, or that is used to customarily wearing smaller watches, favoring the 36 DJ.

Either way, it's an iconic watch, and it's nice having the choice.

Indeed a great addition, but a dresswatch bigger then the famous SUB or Ex2???

Have it, love it....
Ultimate casual dress watch. Sporty yet dressy.
Enough size to fit in the current market yet sleep, classic and low profile
enough to wear with a tux if you want.

I would not have it if I was a one watch guy though.

Tried a DJI on at my AD yesterday. I loved it right away. It wasnt to big on my average wrist( and Im not a fan of the new enormous watch fad). I liked everything about it except its lack of a Jubilee and they wouldnt budge off of MSRP.

I have the blue dial with stick markers. I can't say enough>

about the versatility of this watch. At 41mm it fits perfectly on my 7.5 inch wrist. The low profile allows it to fit comfortably under a shirt sleeve. I've had no problem wearing my DJ II with casual or dress attire. Ultimitely, you have to love the watch. Good luck with your decision.

+1000

I have one and I love it, had a DJ before but it felt too small. I wore the DJ II the other day to work with Jeans (they gave us a jeans day last Friday) and a dress shirt with the cuffs rolled up and it looked right at home.

Nice side by side. Its gives a good perspective of its size. I think to much is made of its perceieved bulk. I think its a perfect size myself.

I have always admired the datejust line but never really got excited about getting one because of the size. Although I have small wrists, I still prefer my watches to be on the larger size.
Well to my surprise, I saw an advert for the new DJ II about a month ago. I called my AD to see if he had one in stock. Within a blink of an eye, I went to town to try a SS, white dial with batons. I was immediatly sold! The size is perfect and I consider the design flawless and well balanced.

After a week of 'should I buy or should I not' I called my AD to tell him to hold this beauty for me! I hope to be able to pick it up soon. When I do then I'll post some pics.

enjoy your's

It's a Rolex!!! A Rolex is both dressy and casual. A Rolex is at home with jeans and tux.

Answer: Nope, you convinced me.
But anyway imho a dresswatch must be smaller then a sportswatch.
Maybe i am not used to the idea
Nice pic of the LV and DJ11

In the past I owned the old DJ in 36 mm (old dial with baton). I liked it very much, but its small size has alway been a con's for it. Then I sold it and now I'll but the new DJII, always black dial with baton ...

Ciao

Similarly to several other members I've had a DJ before & I agree it was just too small if you're used to wearing a 'sports'....
I like the DJ2 WAY better but I've not seen it in the flesh yet.

Just outa curiosity guys how does it compare price wise to say... a sub or the new GMTc?
(or does anyone know a UK£ price?.... it's not in the Rolex UK price list that I have)
