Liverpool FC: They really suck at the moment.

For those Liverpool FC fans out there, I am too - but boy they sure SUCK at the moment.

Last night's game with Everton was one of the WORST performances I have ever seen.

They never got anything going. I just seem them running around the field. Not that I can play soccer, but damn - come'on. 1 win out of what - 7 games? I bet the new owners felt some bitter after taste.

They are also facing a possible 9 point deduction....that'll take them into deep deep trouble. A shame...I'm not a supporter... But obviously an admirer of the great club they have been with a superb history. But giants fall.

Yea--not too much of a 'pool fan, but this is pretty sad to see. A lot of the players are just out of form so I'm not too sure how much there is to blame on the manager.

But yea, they suck pretty hard right now.

Really? 9pt deduction? Why? Because of the takeover in mid-season?

I'm not sure if the manager is to blame. I mean, everyone is to blame. Just look at how they play...

The manager does them tactically and strategically. But on the pitch, they lose the ball alot, they get down often in man-to-man combat, you name it. They don't look ferocious at all.

Well, actually they are out of the woods on that one - at least...

If the sale of the club (to the Boston Red Sox owner John W Henry) was blocked by the court (which it wasn't). This would have meant that the club would have been put in to administration by their main creditor, the Royal Bank of Scotland. But since the sale is now going to happen (I guess they haven't signed anything yet, but can't see anything else happening), there's no need for the Premier League to deduct any points.

Cheers,
Joe

suck is not correct, they are in complete financial and organisational dissaray- never mind how badly they are playing. a lesser team would have been disbanded by now

No, actually with the takeover complete and the debts with RBS settled, the points deduction is off the table.

The team (and the manager) are really playing scared right now. Put a lineup that has no creativity together with a manager with no attacking mindset, and there you have a recipe for relegation form. Where are the goals going to come from, when Gerrard is playing so deep he could be centre half, and the midfield is populated by Lucas / Poulsen / Maxi? There's no point just trying to defend well (and failing, no less); if we can't score at all, at best we come away with low scoring draws week in and week out, and that's not good enough for staying up.

I would be in favor of throwing caution to the wind, push Gerrard up, give Ngog and Babel more time up front, and play one fewer of the useless defensive midfielders. Give those players with any flair the chance to make a run at the oppositiion and don't hold back. At least that way if we go down we go down swinging.

If I were Henry, I would give Hodgson at best half a dozen more league fixtures to produce real results. (Next 6: Blackburn, Bolton, Chelsea, Wigan, Stoke & West Ham). In fact, if we don't get a minimum of 2 draws to Blackburn and Bolton, I would be in favor of sacking Roy immediately and putting Dalglish in charge. Given his stature with the club, he's probably the only one who can command respect in the dressing room, and get some slack from the fans during what are sure to be a few very difficult months.

Rooney has decided that he will not re-sign with Man U. Isn't he from Liverpool? If Henry runs the club anything like the BoSox, he will want to make a splash and get people flowing through the gates.

He certainly is, but his first club was Everton which is the arch enemy of Liverpool, it would be a real surprise if he went there, mind, stranger things have happened. Talk on the news a couple of minutes ago thought it might have been money related, Man City, Chelsea and Real Madrid would probably be the best wage payers.

I have more chance playing as a creative midfielder for spurs with my shirt untucked than Rooney does of signing for Liverpool.

As an Avid Red Sox fan...Liverpool fans should be aware that John Henry will take GREAT care of the team, fans and the stadium....he is not afraid to spend money and help the team win! Mark my words...he will work to create a winner and great environment!

Go Sox!!

There's no way Liverpool were ever\ are going to be relegated - certainly not this season !!

At the moment there something like 4/ 6 points off the 4th placed team. A long way to go & I would expect them to start climbing steadily back up the table. Challenging for a place in Europe coming to the end of the season - it wouldn't surprise me.

I read somewhere that the John Lennon statue at John Lennon International Airport in Liverpool was defaced. The inscription says "above us only sky", under which some wiseguy wrote "below us only West Ham"
