Montblanc Pen

My step-daughter will be graduating from law school in May. I’d like to get her a Montblanc pen as I love my 149 fountain and 162 roller ball classique. She’s not a fountain pen person so I’m thinking the roller ball.

I can’t tell the difference between the 162 Classique and the 163 LeGrand save what appears to be a threaded cap on the 163. Any other differences I should know about? The pen will be the black with the gold accents. Thanks.

David

David, I can't answer that question as I'm not familiar with each pen but go to a MontBlanc boutique and try/check them out!!!

David,

Are you referring to the differences in regard to size of the pens or the characteristics in terms of removable cap (threaded as you mentioned)?

The LeGrande is a larger pen. It is my opinion that a Classique may (and I say may because comfort is relative to the person) be more comfortable because it may fit her smaller hands. I'm only assuming she has smaller hands, but I could be wrong (like in the Seinfeld episode where his date has "Man Hands."

I would recommend the MB Silver Barley Doue Rollerball (#104544). It's classic sized, silver cap and black barrel (with patterns).

Some good suggestions already

But this is a lawyer you are now dealing with and they deserve special treatment especially on graduating, all that study they have done. Get a profound Montblanc, something that makes a statement.

I would get her a limited edition montblanc, something that makes a statement. There are a number of the limited edition Montblancs that were released with a rollerball option.
Check out the writer's series. You can get some of these brand new still sealed in the box on ebay.

The photos do not do this pen justice, it is a stunning pen.

For something different, I like this too, and its very elegant for a lady:

This is probably my No1 choice, it is very feminine and it is a limited edition, very cool, it makes a great statement for a lawyer.

My only reservation is maybe it isn't really nice to hold with that gold coloured area to grip

Cartier is also a great brand and you can't go past this rollerball for class:
