Carl F Bucherer Watches

What is your opinion on Carl Bucherer watches? I had a chance to try these on last week and they look amazing in person.

Any info would be appreciated in regards to the quality of the build and movements, along with customer service from Bucherer if the watch needs service.

Thanks,

Jim

I only know them from their advertisements in various magazines. They look amazing in print - but, oddly, I've never seen one in person here in the wilds of the great midwest.

I'd try to find out if they make their own movements (like it matters anymore) and what the resale value is (just so you get a sense of the reasonableness of their prices) and then, if you like what you see (and what's not to like, from what I've seen), get one.

Thanks for the info. Based on what I've read they make their own movements.

Anyone else have info on this company?

Davidsw, Mosco, Oscar, Tony?

Anyone?

Thanks.

I happen to know a bit, but my internet connection is atrocious and the forum is painfully slow. I'll post tomorrow with all I know about the company.

Here's some quick facts:

They do have 1 in-house caliber, it has a revolutionary new winding system with a peripheral rotor. These models are quite expensive and in my mind the finish isn't good enough to justify the cost.

Most of their other models including their "complication" models, are just unmodified ETA movements with modules piggybacked on top. Some of their models have as much as 3 or 4 piggybacked modules leading to a thick case and a crappy movement.

They've historically been a jeweler not a watch manufacture.

Thank you for the info.

Charlie, I look forward to hearing more tomorrow. Feel free to PM me if that works. You are correct that the case is larger than most watches I've seen recently.
