I am considering purchasing a PP 5153g and would be interested in hearing from anyone who owns this watch. I currently wear a PP 5196r and love its elegance, but there is something about the face of the 5153g that I love as well.

It is truly a beautiful watch, I got one for a client a few weeks back and just last week I saw him and he was wearing it... I really was in awe over the dial and he liked the new Exp II I was wearing so to my surprise he said "Lets trade for a couple days"
I never wore the 5153 out of my house as I didn't want to risk a bump BUT the dial is just stunning! I like the dial on the G much more than the J.
Anyway he now has the 5153 and a new 42 mm Exp II (I no longer have one...)
It was kinda funny, he asked "If you were to sell a new Exp II how much would it be" and I told him if I had another Id sell it for ..... but I just got this one and like it. Anyway when we met for lunch (to return watches) he handed me a check after I handed him the Patek... I did not want to sell it but he really didn't give me a choice.

Personally I like the clean dial on the 5196r over the 5153g. I'm contemplating picking up a 5196p next year.

After the 5196 -- which is a truly magnificient time piece -- I'd definitely get a different kind of Patek, e.g. 5726 or 5146. Having two not-so-complicated dressy Patek in the collection would be redundant for me. And after a 5196 the next "logical" step could well be an Annual Calendar. Just my $0.02.

I think that is a fair argument and the aquanaut is certainly a beautiful piece, but I think it is a little too sporty. The annual calendar is certainly a classic.
