$500,000 Masters watch

Not only did Bubba Watson wear a watch as he won the Master's yesterday...it cost half a million. http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/de...rn=golf-326791
Wow, I thought it was just a cheap, plastic white thing to match his all white outfit.

What is it about this forum that everyone's obsessed about really expensive watches.

Ooops, thought I was still on bimmerforums!...

No, and I doubt that he even owns it (or cares). Probable owned by RM.

I remember there being a huge stink about the cost of the watch a last season. If he didn't pay for it why would anyone care? I mean it his money he can do whatever he wants with it. Maybe it's a story if he paid for it (only to those with no life) but if he didn't, what's the big deal?

I mean I realize not everyone is a WIS or an investment pro but why was it a story?

I think because we exist in a small subculture wherein watches with stickers starting at 5 figures are no big deal. Probably 99.9% of the world's population doesn't own a watch costing more than $200, if that.

More than likely, such trivial stories are promulgated by those wishing to show what an exclusive, upper-class-snobby sport professional golf is. But I could be wrong.

RM are pretty cool watches, I'm not so "cool" about the price though.

Because people like to whine about how other people spend their money but don't like their own purchases to be questioned. I don't get it either.

I think that's being over generous - I'd say 99.9% of the World doesn't own a watch costing more than $ 30-40.

Lest we forget - most of the World is really quite considerably poor.

And I must say that Golf seems to bring out the avaricious and pretentious in my fellow man more than most other forms of sport. Basically it's silly guys hitting balls into holes. Wow...Clever! Not!

Yeah, I think I'm viewing through an American prism there, you're probably correct.

To each his or her own, but I could buy a few nice watches, a decent sized house and a new car or two with half a million bucks.

Even if he did pay for the watch, which I doubt, I don't see how it's any of the public's business to question how someone spends their money.

That said, I read in another thread that the watch was a non-Tourbillon Richard Mille which costs around 125k. I'm not positive as I didn't get a good look at it, just saying.

I guess you can play golf with a 500k tourbillion.

If, indeed, it was one. I am guessing it is because no watch should hit those prices unless it's some sort of anti-gravity contraption.

I personally love it. I think white G Shocks are cool and trendy but imagine having this on you wrist.

Here it is:

Here's the wristshot of the one I own.....

.
Who's Bubba?..

Listen - Bubba plays Golf...not just Golf the way it was invented and perfected over generations...but BUBBA Golf!

And when Bubba wears a watch it must live up to his demanding standards to be as quirky and unique as he who blasts a cut/hook off pine straw onto the green and inside his competitors lie.

Phil's Cellini looked a little jealous at the White RM on the practice green beforehand.

Who could ask for anything more!

RM's CMO must love sticking it in a certain sustaining PGA Swiss Watch sponsor's face at each event.

It is a neat watch but the value does not compute... I'm having trouble seeing $6K in this watch let alone $500K! Am I missing something?
