Opinions please

Is this a good price, if the watch is genuine and as described?

Well the watch looks good in my humble opinion but I'd still be careful, you never know what part may have been changed. A meeting at an AD would be the best thing to organize.

Who knows.
As far as the price, I think it's low enough that I would be "concerned".
Authentication at an AD would be an absolute must.

Im trying to determine if its a good enough possibility to make such a meeting. Im going to talk to him on the phone first, see how he sounds. Then, maybe a meeting.
Thanks.

More pictures would be helpful... especially between the lugs.

The price is compelling, but also a red flag... I'd follow up, but carefully. Get an agreement ahead of time with an AD to authenticate (it is easily worth the money if this is legit); preferably one that has an off-duty officer on site. Have a buddy or two nearby and keep your eyes open when you leave.

I texted him last night, have yet to hear from him. I agree about the price being compelling, as well as suspicious.
Thanks for the advice.

Too good to be true. I mean, $900 for a decent-looking Rolex (looking at the sub par pics) which even includes the box (and papers?).

Would be a very (wink) good deal if it holds up to scrutiny! If it sounds to good to be true then, it probably isn't!

Too cheap, watch is worth much more than the asking price, either at wholesale or retail level. It's a picture of a real datejust, but what you need to do is meet at a watchmaker's shop where s/he can pull the movement and tell you what's real and what's not.

good luck! personally? I would never buy a watch on craigslist......
but that's just me......

Jim - as you may already know, that cellphone is a Texas one and he does disclose "out of town" in the Augusta listing.

It should be $2,500 + depending on accesseries and condition, I would be very careful......but what do you have to lose if he will meet at a local AD or watch tech....

My guess is he'll reply saying he is from UK on a mission in the US
managing a cancer group and hence funds are needed urgently for the cause to cure cancer.
He'll sweeten the deal by offering free shipping.
That's only my guess.

It's bogus....the guy never texted me back. I asked detailed questions and he probably was hoping to find a nuckelhead that would jump on it. I figured it was too good to be true, but was curious enough to try.

Heck, I figured any Rolex dealer worth a grain of salt would easily give him $900, so why not just take it to one and be done with it?

Yes, I saw the number was from Texas.

Thanks guys.

Check it out. No harm in that. I guess being out of college 5 years I still remember how cheaply a kid in college will sell something for to get cash fast. It could've been a gift and he has no clue what it's worth. If ur close I'd would def check it out.

Looks like its a scam. Sorry

I won't even go look at a watch unless I can speak with the seller personally. You can usually tell by talking to someone if it's worth a trip or if it's a scam. If you can't tell on the phone and you're not sure when you see it, go to a jeweler and have them open the back for you, then you can tell if it's real or not.
