AP Royal Oak Chrono 41mm) or Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chrono
I am in the market for a stainless steel watch that could be worn daily, doesn't attract as much attention as perhaps a gold rolex but at the same time (for me) carries prestige.
Both watches will achieve the prestige factor - I'm curious about overall ownership, reliability, feel... Anything you guys can remark would be appreciated. I would purchase new or very slightly preowned so no worries about warranty etc. Please let me know your thoughts - I would get the "jumbo" AP as the VC is 43mm and I like larger watches. Pics attached for your viewing pleasure :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352981181.824871.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1352981190.620566.jpg |

I prefer Overseas for chrono (it is 42 mm BTW), deep stream version on leather strap, but AP 15202 for date only version. Try both on and see which you prefer

Both would score high in the prestige factor. Of the two listed, the AP would be my choice.

I owned the smaller version of the AP Chrono and the VC Overseas Chrono. Both would easily hold up to the daily grind of everyday wear and both have the wow factor if that is what you are looking for. I found the VC slightly more comfortable to wear and liked the bracelet much better than the older version of the AP. The comfort factor might be different on the new larger one though.
The tie breaker for me would be dial legibility and the big date so I would lean slightly towards the VC. Previous Version AP: VC Overseas Chrono |

AP ROC > VC OSC. I've never been a fan of the OS bracelet but I do like VC.

Ap
I like the look of the AP much better!
I would venture to say that the resell value of the AP will be much better and a lot easier to flip if you ever decide to sell it! The AP is an iconic case with a lot of demand...Im not sure I could say the same for the VC. |

The resale market for the VC doesn't seem to be very good....I see the same VC watches for sale on ebay month after month....

I had a VC Overseas Auto... It's 42mm. I didn't like the bracelet, very uncomfy, but nice looking. I also didn't like the way the watch sat on my wrist. it had a very "flat" look to it which bugged me. Beautiful dial though!
I vote for the AP ROC. |

AP... I like the Ti VC Overseas but the AP is just a better bang for your buck (I know crazy right?) and has a nicer, more timeless design.

I dislike the chronograph sub-dials on the Vacheron. They fact that they are not proportioned really throws off the whole dial for me.
AP ROC for me. |

I bet you will find 99.99% folks here leaning towards AP. And yes, AP all the way for me!

AP ROC between the two for me. I am a fan of VC but not the Overseas.

both interesting watches, i would try both on if you haven't, it may sort it out once they each have a moment on your wrist?
the AP seems a bit more finished to me but i really like the texture of the VC dial.

As to the OP's question, if it was the previous generation AP ROC then that would get my vote but not so much the new one.

VC Overseas are not in-house movements.
Is the AP you listed an in-house movement? |

What are your thoughts on the movement?
Is VS OS finally in-house? Does it matter? Which is overall better? That is really the decisive factor for me. |
