New Subc... Am I being to picky about small imperfection?
Guys,
I was just delivered a pre owned random serial Sub-C Ceramic Bezel box and card. Watch was advertised in mint condition pre owned. There is a small scratch on the cerachrome bezel at the 4 hash mark. Please take a look. Am I being to anal about this or should I swap it out? Dealer is being understanding but kinda thinks I'm being a tad ocd. Paid fair market for piece. Thoughts? Also included below some bracelet shots: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430394226.699004.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430394253.114225.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430394268.869927.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430394285.705028.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430394301.552652.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Depends if you bought it in the shop and had the opportunity to inspect it first.
If you'd bought it online and it was delivered like that having been declared as immaculate it would drive me mad. |

Advertised as mint then I would not expect any marks... If it was me then I would return it but then I am a tad OCD with watches...

Mint is a word used too freely by sellers. If it really was described as mint then you are entitled to return it, IMO. But don't expect preowned to be mint when buying in future, unless it is still stickered.

A tad OCD? It's an extremely expensive part, and now that theres a scratch, it's more likely to fail. I'd return it.

I think you already know the answer and if you can just return it. Mint, however, leaves broad room for interpretation. Unless it's nib or bnib I'd say a small mark like that could still fall in the mint category.

If it is retrunable/exchangeable send it back. One pays too much for these to not be happy with it.

If it did come from the factory that way, Rolex would probably replace the insert if still under warranty, but even if it is, do you really want to go through all that? Also, it could be hard to sell later as it is.

it's VERY rare to have scratches on the bezel insert, so, unless you got a screaming deal, there are many many 116610LNs out there to choose from....

Have you tried cleaning first? Might be a stain. It is quite hard to sustain a scratch on ceramic bezel. Will definitely return if you are able to, ceramic bezel is costly to reply.

Ask yourself partner....
1. Its used. 2. You knew it was used. 3. How much less than new did you pay. 4. Lighten up, respectfully, assuming you saved hundreds or thousands off new for one tiny scratch. 5. If its that bothersome, get a new bezel, then come back on the forum in several months when you get a new scratch, lol. Just bought a DSSD....took me all of 1 week to scratch the bracelet when I banged it off the table. Just saying....even if you buy brand new you'll ding it somewhere in a matter of days anyhow. Relax and enjoy, life's too short to be persnickety about every finite detail. |

you bought a USED watch so it is NOT GOING TO BE PERFECT and you can't expect it to be
it would bother me but since you didn't pay full price you need to deal with a used watch if you are lucky they may swap it out but they don't have to anywho, congrats on a great watch!! |

Certainly doesn't meet the standard for "mint condition" by my definition... if he disclosed there was a small imperfection on the bezel, that's a different story... but not unlike you, I would expect "mint" to mean in like new condition.

If it was advertised as mint you should expect to be able to refund it, particularly if it has a damaged bezel. In these days of advertising almost scratch resistant bezels this is something which should have been brought to your attention. Bracelet scratches would not bother me but a damaged bezel would annoy me

I'd be disappointed. It's one thing to have a desk diving scratch on the clasp because a) that will happen anyway and b) it can be easily brushed out.
A blemish ion the cerachrom bezel cannot be so easily remedied. Therefore I wouldn't call it a scratch, I'd call it a scar. It's not likely to blend in with the other oopsies your sure to get because you're not sure to scratch up the bezel like you would the bracelet. Just make sure it won't come out by trying to clean it off using a little elbow grease. I had something similar shortly after I got mine (watch didn't come like that) and was bummed I'd "scratched the bezel but after working on it a bit it turned out to be some foreign matter that did rub off. The reason I suggest this may be a possibility is because my understanding is the bezel should be black through and through, not just the surface. That almost looks like paint came off leading me to think it may actually be foreign matter. Just can't tell for sure from the photo. Assuming it is a blemish I would say the condition of the watch was not as advertised. Best of luck getting it resolved.

That scratch would attract my eye every time like a mustard stain on someone's shirt. Unfortunately, it is noticeable.

It can't be both 'mint' and 'pre-owned' unless it was never worn before. That's an oxymoron.
That bezel insert is damaged. Period. I'd return it, and be more careful/ask more questions next time, or buy new. Unless it's new, it will have wear marks.

It's hard to say. You can clearly see the mark in the sales photo, unless the seller lied to you and said it was lint I think it's on you.
When I'm selling a watch I always state whether marks are dust/lint or actual marks, and whenever I buy one I always ask if it's not stated. Do you due diligence and situations like this can be avoided. |

If it bothers you send it back to swap the bezel.
