Serial Number

I finally got the band off an old rolex and could not find the serial number range in the websites. Does it mean is could be a fake?

The serial is 8954975 and above it says Stailess Steel
The other side says ORIG ROLEX DESIGN 16013

I can't figure if it's real or not......any suggestions?

Thanks

seven digits starting with that prefix should put it around 1985-86.

Where in Honolulu are you located? I just got back from the visiting my brother on the big island. I also graduated from UH.

Hi Tom,

16013 was the steel/gold DJ before the present 16233. I should know 'cause my very first Rolex in 1980 was a TT DJ 16013, serial No.6308050. So our friend, Daren, is right. Your watch seems to be around the mid-80s. And it is genuine!!

Thanks guys, I had my doubts, but knew my father wouldn't get a fake. One thing that had me puzzled was the jubilee band, the cossosion is so bad that a gold piece came off from the band right under the 6 o'clock. It seemed to be glued on or something. Pretty strange.....I still have to get the watch fixed and serviced..

That Jubilee bracelet is pretty old and therefore very dangerous to be placed on the wrist in that condition. Do have it fixed or better still, replaced.

Tom, Daren is right. It's from 1985-86 time frame.

Here's a handy site to use for serial numbers.

Mom is from Ewa and my Dad is from up country Maui. I grew up in Seattle, but played baseball for Coach Les my senior year and coached for two after that. I was just there two weeks ago, played Prince with my brother and two old coaches. We took the first flight from Hilo and came back last flight.

I have a real good friend that lives in Hawaii Kai and also an Auntie.

I am family friends with the Ah-Yats, Paul and I played some ball together. And the Sismars are my family. My cousin Tanya is about a 91 grad. I went to high school in Seattle.

Just kiddin' Tom. Yes, the kiwi fruit is grown here and is very popular. Personally, I don't like it. I do love certain fruits, my favourite being the banana, oranges and grapes. In summer, watermelons are welcome to ward off the heat as we are having now.

Note to self: Reason #24357899, it is too small to hide from the crazy Kiwi man.
