50th Anniversary Day Date
2006 marks the 50th anniversary of the Day Date. Does anyone think Rolex will do something?

Of course they'll do something, and probably at Basel - I don't think anyone's known Rolex to pass up on a marketing opportunity like that. Don't hold your breath waiting to be blown away, though. They'll probably do something as earth-shattering as printing the day text in green.

Yup, green bezel and hand. I can't wait to see what those crazy kids in Geneva will think of next!

The rumor I heard was a day date with the very rare green gold with the lettering in green on a black dial....

I'm sure, whatever it is, will be wildly overpriced, extremely underrated, of limited availability and be of very, very limited production, you know five or six years at the most. Why is it we keep buying these watches again?

I heard a rumour that they're going to give the DD a quartz movement that sweeps like an automatic. Why you ask? Cuz Rolex's research and development team determined that most octagenarians don't move around enough to keep the mainspring properly tensioned, so this is a way to make sure the old coots can tell the time in their beds at 'the home'.
