GMT - Pepsi in Hollywood - "Failure to Lanch"

Would you be considered a Rolex Nut if the first thing you notice is Mathew Mcaghnaehey (sp?)'s rollie GMT Pepsi in a hollywood film?

Watch looked smokin! Makes me want one that much more.

It was at home in his porsche or on the sail boat. :)

I love these watches ;)

Film was pretty good too.... wife liked it.

Terry Bradshaw was a hoot.

Bet.

Not a nut but you obviously know more about Rolex then just the name. I'll tell you that this watch peekin' becomes second nature. I always glance at my guest's wrists to know what watch they are wearing. This tells a lot about the person, I think. If the watch is interesting I always bring it up during the conversation and mostly they are pleasantly surprised. I roughly divide them in two categories. The flashy types that just want to show off their wealth with a 28,000 Euro watch or the one’s that really thought about their choice and really love watches. 10 out of 10 the watch is mechanical.

Thats funny, I find myself doing the very same thing. Most are pleasantly surprised. It annoys the hell out of me when it's some sh*thead that has no idea about the watch except for the price tag and name brand, though.

Yes, that's just what I meant. I'm not really annoyed but find it a shame when a good watch goes to waste this way

$$

I'm no expert, but I'm keen to learn more about rolex.

My local watch guru has taken an interest in me and my enthusiasm..... he calls to update on current inventory..... also to show off his vast personal collection. He's got patek, paneri (sp?), and rolex, and gobs of other stuff.

He's showing me how to pull bezels, remove case backs, gen r&r. Pretty thrilled to have such a local connection for service, and authenticating pc's.

He showed me a 1968 circa GMT Friday. It's got that plastic crystal and stretchy band. Pretty sweet.

(grasshopper of watches :) ) )

Snobbery

Regarding the snooty bunch with a high credit limit and no interest in the watch they own..... that happens in every arena....

Reminds me of the guy who drops 50K on a nice donzi and runs it wide-open-throttle through 1-3' mud flats...... he's got his kids/wife on the bow trying to lift the prop out of the mud... while he wails away on the throttle. YAR!!! No respect for his equipment, the sea, or what he's doing..... he's just another fool with a high credit limit :) IMHO.

I like to ask those people loaded questions about there watches,
Like, " so how many beats does that model run?"
I learned that from a girl I knew in University. Some guy was bragging to her about his Porsche, she had no idea about his car, but calmly asked hime " Is that with the 104" or 108" wheel base?" The guy just got flustered, turned & left. Was too funny
