Caught another rare tornek rayville
I was able to acquire another Tornek Rayville which my watch agent knew its whereabouts for sometime but the owner would not sell until yesterday when he finally relented. I almost gave up on the watch because of the high asking price but we were able to agree after an hour of intense negotiation.
The watch is in original untouched condition. I never bothered having the watch cleaned of all the grime and dirt. Even the acrylic glass is unpolished and has a lot of surface scratches and cracks. It was owned by a retired US Navy diver who has lived in the Philippines for a long time since after the Vietnam war. I believe he wore the watch everyday. It also has a custom masonic solid stainless bracelet. I plan to preserve the watch the way I got it. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] My other Tornek Rayville [/IMG] |

I had to educate myself on this timepiece. Interesting story, are there really only 20-30 in existence?

Hard to tell really but the Promethium 147 lumes normally lost its glow after 5 years so most of the 1,000 pcs issued to Navy personnel were returned because they have lost their usefulness specially in night time operations. The returned watches were then placed is a sealed drum and buried deep in the US government radioactive waste disposal sites.

I finally decided to have the TR900 cleaned and the movement overhauled. I got the watch today from my watchmaker and it looks vintage great.

Congratulations on the acquisition! A rare find indeed. I love the chase as much as the watches themselves.

Yes sir. The fun is in the hunt...the negotiation...finally closing the deal. Then its time to celebrate with a superb Nikka single malt and Cohiba cigar.
