Might we anticipate a white-dialled GMT?

Rolex advert from this week's 'Economist'. Bearing in mind it's a schematic-type drawing, and this schematic refers to the GMT 2 rather than the original GMT (which presumably is where the schematic-requiring design magic occurred originally), is there another message out there? And if so, what would the general consensus be?

Would loved to see another white dial. Pepsi bezel white dial would be a stunner.

Hate white dials on sports watches - harder to read in my opinion. I don't think they sell as well either (I believe I had seen somewhere that the panerai white dials were way cheaper than the dark dials because of such low demand - but I don't remember and can't cite my source). Not interested

White dialed gmt is desirable because it is rare, not necessarily because it looks better. Besides there is already the white explorer ii, so i do not see it happening.

Doubt it, but I would like to see a white dialed sport option with rotating bezel.
Always like the "Pan Am" albino 6542 style. Whether you believe it or not, I like the design and color combo.
Straight white and grey or black could be done tastefully as well.

Have to agree. Why release a model that is too similar to the 16570 and 216570

IMHO 216570 is a pretty plain watch, think a white dial GMTC would look tremendous

+1

There's already a white dial GMT: the Explorer II. :)

The GMT is my favorite reference and with all the teasers Rolex has been putting out with it leading up to this years show, I'm hopeful something new in the line will be introduced. BTW, a polar GMT has been on my wish list in every Basel thread since I've been here.

Don't know about white dials not selling as well. Seems to me the polar E2 is a bit more popular than the black dial, and no question more people are in the queue for the white D500.

Rolex is a bit low on ideas... I would not put it past them to look at the past. They revived the Orange hand on the Expy II not long ago... and went to a Matte / Satin dial on the Sea Dweller - thought they botched the MSRP on the latter.

No.

But an all-dark blue ceramic bezel insert with white dial, red 24-hour hand and red text could be fun.

Anyone here remember another Basel where we had a clear advert on a 'future' model like this one before? I don't, so that's why I'm asking. I mean, model, dial, hands, everything there for all to see before the opening? Trying to evaluate the odds here.

That would certainly be interesting and something new.....white and black bezel would also be great.
Whatever they do I doubt it will just be a remake of what's been done before.
Not long to wait.

Hmm I don't really favor white dialed watches in general but this might be fun if they did it.

Good news! They already have a white dial GMT, it's called the Explorer II. I doubt Rolex will introduce a white dial GMT-Master II (at least not in stainless steel). Am I the only one who thinks it's not a smart move to relase every model in every color in every dial?

I think it'd be cool. It would look like the explorer ii mods where the steel bezel was replaced with GMT bezel.

They should offer a Custom Shop and take requests. Bezel color, complications within current movements, dial color, precious jewels etc. Give the options, you put your order in and for a price you've got a custom one of one Rolex.

Or come up with a completely new model rather than just tweak the tried and true.

I'm sort of undecided about that possibility.
On one hand - it would be a great homage to the historic GMT and on the other - it would MAYBE stole some of the Explorer II 's thunder, being currently the only one white-dialed sport watch made by Rolex...

Rolex would never do this. Part of the fun of Rolex is that if you want certain colors, you can only get them in PM. If you could get a blue sub in stainless then no one would ever buy the white gold.
