One in one out

Received this pie pan connie with 561 mechanism from down under in australia.. really pleased with this buy.. i think i made a really good deal..

Howvere ended up selling this one.. must be some sort of record.. only kept it for a week at most.. wanted the dial to be in slightly better condition.. but didnt want to spoil it by restoring it.. so sold it one to a new home and made a small profit too.

Thanks for the comments guys. I feel that the constellation series is very much underated by the WIS community.. seems that most people go for the vintage speedies and divers.. may have something to do that these connies are smaller than what a lot of people wear these days..and these dress watches aren't really all that fashionable these days.. most people seem to be interested in divers.

Yes agree mate but its quite funny when you think about it. Only around 15%-20% of the divers sold, ever see water deeper than the local swimming pool. Or a quick paddle in the ocean,or even a shower, let alone a bath.

i must admit i am one of the guilty ones in this respect. Did dive with my omega smp a few times down to 30m in the caribean, but the SD has only been used for snorkelling and swimming pool duty thus far . Besides which i can pick up 3 of these connies for less than the price of a seamaster dive watch

All of the connies which i collect are from the 1950's and 1960's, omegas golden era. Movements such as the 561, 505, 354 551 etc etc were all inhouse movements made by omega, prior to the conversion in the 1980's to ETA based movements. It is a reflection of the quality of thes movements that 40-50 yrs on they work perfectly and they are still within chronometer specs that they were initially certified.

the 1045 based speedies are classics. The 1045 movement is based on the lemania 5100 movement,?. Omega heavily modified this movement and called it the 1045. The lemania 5100 movement was until very recently used in a number of chronos including more modern ones.. for example Sinn i think? It is a much better movement than the more common used valjoux 7757 movement. Chuck maddox website has a nice section on the 1045 based speedmasters:
