Is the Rolex Datejust 36mm too small or a mens wrist or ist it ok?

There’s plenty of posts on here in regards to this topic. At the end of the day it’s what you like and feel comfortable with. Go into your local AD and try on a few different models.

I was set on a DJ41 until I went in and tried a few different models and went for a 36mm (6.75 wrist) after having larger watches. Just thought the proportions of the 41 were off where as the 36mm was great. Try a few on and see what you like.

36mm was the standard for men's Rolex for many years. The trend of larger watches is now changing that perception. I love the larger look, but myself with a smaller wrist, the 36mm fits me perfectly.

Depends on the watch too. For a DJ or DD, 36mm looks great. Not sure if I’d buy a 36mm sub if they made one though.

It’s a matter of personal preference. You have to decide if you like the look or not, then try on a watch and decide if you like the feel or not (not necessarily in that order).

There are no rules to say what size is mens or women.

The DJ41 gives the watch more versatility. Makes it a dress and a sports watch. The 36mm is more of a dress watch and looks great on a vintage piece. I personally think the modern 36mm ones are too small for a man- (you will now get 20 pics of men wearing 36mm watches saying they are great). See previous threads.

I have small wrists. 36mm would probably look better on my wrists but the larger options in DD and DJ offer more. They have updated movements as well as ceramic inserts when it comes to the president bracelet. It just made more sense to me in the long run. Ultimately go for what you want and enjoy.

For me there is no doubt that the 36mm would be the one I would choose. I have 6-3/4 inch wrists so my sweet spot is 36mm-40mm. At this point for me, anything larger I rule out. I just dont like the way it looks on me personally. Other like the oversized look and I think that’s fine, as long as you like.

That being said, I tend to like the dial options of the 41s better than the 36s. Mainly the “Wimbledon” dial. Same with the DD40 Roman dial.

36mm is great for a mans wrist. Just my opinion, I thought they ruined the DJ's proportions when they made it 41mm, I have looked at it many times, just looks too big.

My opinion only fellas, if you have a DJ 41, enjoy it, it works for you and that's all that matters.

The bezels on the 41s look huge, especially the smooth versions, and they're set at the wrong angle. The fluted 41s look muted or dull compared to the 36s.

The 36 is perfect.

I had the same dilemma. Try them on back to back. For me, the 36 with a jubilee was just more comfortable than a 41. It felt better and looked great. The 36 is THE classic. Ultimately it's what you like.

Either way, it's a Rolex so you win!

Dj2 is a lot of watch,
Especially with the fluted bezel ,,,
it’s a huge piece of white gold in comparison to the 36mm,,,,
For me the 36 is perfect,,

36mm for me , nothing wrong with 41mm but the 36mm really is the DJ sweet spot .

I got a DJ2. Too big.
I then got a DJ41. Too big.
I’m just about to trade in my DJ41 fo a 36mm.

The perfect watch size for men. The classic.

This is the stupidest thing I have read on TRF. A fit man that is 6 foot that works out and is 180lbs with a 7.75 inch wrist would not look right in a 36mm. If he likes it sure but a DJ41 was made for people with larger wrist.

I have 7 1/4” wrists. A 40mm Sub fits great on me. So my wrists can handle the 41, which actually wears smaller than the Sub.

However, I think I actually prefer 36. I think it’s a better size for that style watch. 38 would be even better. 40 and 41 are pushing it.
