Original receipt fading🤬

Hey guys! I bought my 16600 just over 10 years ago. It's awesome and I love it...but I just went to look at the original receipt and it's super faded!

I've got a full set and kept the receipt from its service last year...but just wondering if there's anything you guys do to preserve the ink on the receipt???

Thanks!!

Jason

Scan your receipt so you always have a copy.

Agree

Also,....keep the original flat, and in the dark.

Without seeing the original, I think a Photoshop wizard, might be able to scan and enhance the text.

Does the timekeeping affect the fading of the receipt?

That's Cool! I will reach out to the AD. Hope they keep records from March 2009

As far as the timekeeping...no idea. I had Rolex service it a little over a year ago so I'm sure it's fine.

just take a picture on your phone or make a photo copy.....i dont think laminating it or doing anything physically to it can stop the fading.....maybe store it in a book???

I always scan my receipt. The receipt will fade as the years go by.

Have to agree Larry and in the real world a ten year old receipt is just a ten year old receipt to a watch made in there hundreds of thousands.

It does have some value. If it says bought from WOS (for example) it adds providence. Yes I realise you could fake a receipt but on the assumption the watch is genuine an original receipt is nice to have. I’ve kept all mine in the box.

Maybe that patina will add value to the receipt?

A receipt is a receipt regardless of how many watches or anything that has been made it refers to. It provides provenance and I would always keep it, as we always say buy the seller and any additional information a seller keeps for me would be important.

Ziploc Bag

Seal it up in a colored ziploc bag (sandwich or gallon depending on the size of the receipt). It will fade less and last longer.

Just don't expose it to light and keep it in a dry low oxygen environment. It will look the same 100 years from now.

Trace over it. That's not cheating. It's just restoring.

I take pics of all my watches and warranty cards and keep them on my phone. That way if I'm ever away and there is any question about the watch I can always prove it is mine by looking up the pics on my phone. Never had to, but who knows.

Like you my receipt from my first big watch purchase 10 years ago has faded, I can just make out where the watch came from and very faint price £1900 but no real detail.

So lesson learnt, I now photograph all my receipts, I print a hard copy and file separately from the original, I photograph the watch with the cards, the watch with the receipts, the watch with the cards and receipt, the receipts with the cards. All are printed and filed in a fireproof box separate from the cards and original receipts which are in another fireproof box.

It didn't cross my mind 10 years ago to do this it is only recently that I have realised that I may need this info.
