Different 15500ST "AP" Logos
Hi everyone:
I noticed that some 15500ST models in blue have the "AP" logo with a white line in-between the "A" and "P" such as those seen on the hour and minute hands. Most models, however, do not have this line. I have attached two pictures of a 15500ST in blue showing the different logos. Can anyone explain why this difference exists? It seems off for a quality watchmaker where you would think uniformity among the same model is paramount. Thank you. |

Hello, I had the same observation.
Same situation with latest 15202 which comes with white line AP or not. On Chrono24, all 2020 and 2021 blue '15202' have the white line. The 'demo' blue that I saw in the boutique didn't have the white line but mine has it. When I inquired my SA about this, the answer was very evasive, something like "our watchmakers are constantly looking for improvements, and you may find some differences even within the same model reference" Anyone had a different experience? My 15500 blue has the white line. 15500 rose gold has the empty space between A P. Both purchased from boutique this year.

In my mind it’s not an authenticity issue. AP is obviously a quality watch manufacturer, so I imagine this is not an oversight. I had someone tell me that the white line logo is “new batch” vs. the logi without the line but this does not make sense given that both appear in old and new 15500s.
I noticed that the 15400 has a smaller, yet similar logo to the 15500, but always with the white line. There has to be an intentional reason for this inconsistency. I’d be shocked if it’s an “error”, however. In any event, it’s bizarre for a watch that retails at such a high price. |

Sorry forgot to mention that my message above only concerns blue dial from what I could see...

Is it a lume? Funny if the white line versions are found to be more rare and start fetching higher prices or vice versa…

Maybe AP is going to be like Rolex with little variations in the dials where people go crazy and claim they are rare and worth more?

Mine looks just like yours, Neming. This appears to be the more "rare" of the 15500ST AP logos. I contacted AP service and the lady I spoke to suggested I send my brand new watch in for service, as this may be a defect that AP would be happy to remedy. I don't think she understood the issue, however.

If you look at the AP logo on the 15202ST it is the same as the 15500ST blue (with the white line). Could this be AP using surplus 15202 AP logo markers on some 15500ST. Is it coincidence that this discrepancy is only seen on blue 15500ST models? Did some AP watchmaker simply mistakenly use the “wrong” material during the manufacturing process?
Truly curious. |

Interesting. Is this variation only on the blue dials?

Mine has the white line between the letters, this is the grey 15500. Can’t post photos yet since I just created this account. I like it without the border, maybe AP improved their milling capability.

Here is the black AP 15500 I had from 2019 as well. No filler. No surprises here since as you said this is more common.

Someone forgot to stamp (cut) out the gap between the letters, or save one manufacturing step to save costs. j/k

Would be interesting to hear from 15400 owners. I have a black dial with the filler.

My 2017 blue dial 15400 also has the white line. Have to say, I had never paid attention to that detail before, but seeing both versions, it looks better without the line, imo.

White line models are jumping on C24, starting around $500K.
