Replacement Dial on Backorder?

Hello All,
Recently took my beloved 16610 D serial LV into an AD for a service and repair. Sometime ago she feel onto a tile floor dial down breaking the crystal, bending the hands and scratching the dial pretty good. I posted the event sometime ago and was going to source the parts but the dial was impossible to find for me at least. I did a deal to upgrade my wifes small datejust to a 34mm and it needed polishing. When i took it in I also took my LV. Upon looking at it the AD quoted a replacement dial for it at 400.00. Good deal so I elected to have it repaired. They said the watch would be ready by Thanksgiving. Early Nov drop off and they do the service/repairs in house. Thanksgiving came and went and 2 weeks later I called.
They indicated that it was ready but were waiting on the dial from the motherland as they are required to send it back to get a replacement. Any day now they said. Got a call 2 days ago from them telling me that while the dial was available, it had been placed on backorder from Rolex. End of Feb. best case.
Backorder? Do they not have these dials or do they have to make more as demand increases? I told the dealer that if I had know that I would have kept the dial on it. Just seems strange to me.

Rolex in Switzerland shuts down in December, and have for years.
You just have to be patient. (No choice, anyway!)
You will get it back eventually.
This is why we should all have a backup Rolex -- heh.

Replacement Dial on Backorder?

That happens sometimes. I sent a Tudor for a sapphire replacement and upon checking alternate dials decided to get mine replaced. It took 15 weeks since they had to order the dial to Geneve

Wonder when we will start hearing the "rumors" I've heard for 20 years that "one day Rolex" will stop making parts for older watches will come true.
