Why is this piece such a ridiculous price?

What am I missing here?

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/rol...id21908598.htm

I get the colour and auction hype, co-brand madness and the FOMO. But what makes this watch usually trading at 12k being listed at a ridiculous price?!

I don’t pay attention to the asking price. Do my due diligence on confirmed sold price of similar models.

Crazy prices, but the market dictates the price. A lot of people either want it or are trying to get it.

Makes no sense other than someone is willing to pay the price.

Mindboggling why people spend so much time worrying about silly listings on Chrono24.

People can ask $100K for an Oyster Perpetual on eBay or Facebook. Doesn’t make it a valid or remotely relevant data point.

Probably, but can it be sustainable? Probably this whole turquoise thing will die down in a few months

Exactly but many today there lives are ruled by looking at Rolex prices and what so called social media dictates. As Rolex watches today to many are now little more than £$€ objects and nothing more.

That's what they said about the 16610LV "Flat 4" prices, but they just kept going up.

Never bought from them but have looked at their pieces for a few years. He used to be pretty fair with his pricing, probably because he is in the NE. Of late he has gone a bit crazy. My view is instead of putting it in the safe, which a load of grey dealers are doing, he has it out there at a very inflated price. If someone pays, they are a mug, if they don’t he keeps it and it goes up next year anyway!

I am sure that it is resellers trying to ride the 5711 craze since this is “similar” to most who really know nothing about watches. But as it was said, the asking price and the selling price are often two very different things.

All because the hype around the Tiffany PP Nautilus. Something like 150 being made, grey is going for 100x retail or some absurd figure. The OP is guilty by association I suppose.
