Ode to Precious Metal

Picked up my 126719BLRO, the White Gold Pepsi - and WOW, what a watch.

Like many of us here, I've always purchases SS or TT versions of my favorite references, but now the PM has ruined me. Next to this, my BLNR feels like a Seiko.

The white gold has a much warmer look than the SS, the blue dial is beautiful, and the weight of the watch is much more substantial - it feels like my SD44 on my wrist.

I own a lot of watches, and there's only a few of them I would grab if there was a Zombie Apocalypse - this is definitely one of them.

Anyone else have the same reaction when they got their first PM Rolex?

Once you go PM its very very very hard to go back. More and more ppl are realising this now.

When I wear a full gold 6 digit sub and then put on the SS version it feels like a toy. Even worse if you put on an older 5 digit with aluminum insert and older style tinny bracelet you will think your wearing a cheap fake watch imho. LOL

The difference is amazing.

I love PM timepieces more than SS for sure but I still wear all of them in rotation.

Yep. Bought a few in RG about 6 months ago and it’s all I wear and all I want to acquire

Still have quite a few in SS. Subs, Daytona’s, SkyD, Explorers etc are they’re all sitting unwound. Wind them up every few months just for the sake of doing it. Have one more box to check off in RG and I’m done done. Like seriously. At least with Rolex until they come out with something other than cosmetic changes

I must be the odd one out. While I cherish my PM watches, beyond the obvious weight difference, I don’t really feel any discernible difference when wearing them.

I do really appreciate that GMT though, the blend of the blue dial on blue on the bezel makes it ultra special.

That's really interesting. We all fell for Rolex and the SS models, but now the PM versions are the only thing we get excited about. Seems like the sentiment is pretty universal.

Before my AD got me the TT CHNR, they offered me the pure rose gold version - I passed on it at the time, and am kicking myself now. I told them to text me when another one comes in, I'm all over it.
