Incoming - blue dial stainless steel sports watch

Hi All,

Very pleased to have just added a blue dial GP Laureato to the collection.

My watch journey has been a bit odd, started with a PAM 312, then chopped and changed my way through a whole load of options (including Daytona, Bluesy, AP RO 15300, BLNR twice, etc). I consolidated down to a GMT Master II and an AP Royal Oak Chrono, before then adding a Patek Aquanaut in 2019.

For various reasons the Patek and ROC went, partly due to not being comfortable with the increased valuation/attention these pieces come with nowadays. These were replaced with an Omega Seamaster and a Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Ceramic.

I felt the collection lacked something for special occasions and I loved my long departed blue dial 15300, so wanted something that did a similar job but a bit more under the radar than AP, which led me to the Laureato.

I can honestly say buying it is the quickest decision on watches I've made, normally I procrastinate, um and err, take ages weighing up options etc. With this one as soon as I tried it on my heart and head joined together to scream "buy it".

After a short wait for delivery it arrived a couple of days after Christmas, only worn it once so far but love the look, the feel, the comfort and the under the radar nature of this thing. It wears incredibly comfortable, far more so than my experiences of Royal Oaks. The slimmer profile means it tucks away under a sleeve a bit better too. If anyone isn't familiar with the GP's, I'd honestly urge you to check them out in person, they are SO much better than photos.

This slots into my current collection;

GMT - beater
Seamaster - holidays
Hublot - casual
GP Laureato - occasions

Thank you to the forum for bringing this great piece to my attention

38 or 42mm?

Happy you found the perfect watch for you! For me it was the opposite, I loved it in pictures but was underwhelmed with the blue dial in person. I actually liked black more but not enough to pull the trigger. I do think the GPL could be the next one to take off now that VCO is also hard to get hold off..

This is 42mm, it wears smaller in my opinion, helped by the slim profile. I agree, if one is looking for a SS blue dial sports watch, and accepts that a PP 5711/AP RO and VCO is impossible to acquire at a reasonable price then this is where one looks next (or it certainly was for me!)

Many thanks They do seem hard to get now, Wempe in London had one in and said it's the first in 3 months and the grey I got mine from can't get another until March

Congrats! Beautiful watch which has caught my eye as well. They definitely seem under appreciated at the moment, hopefully they don’t get swept up into this awful grey market.

Looks great! I recently had the opportunity to try on the skeleton versions and they're out of this world. Enjoy that beauty!
