Incorrect Bezel Insert

I received a 1995 GMT II this week with a pepsi insert. I really wanted a black insert so I phoned my local AD and they had some used ones in stock.

I pick up a black one today but upon getting it home it noticed that it looked slightly wider than my pepsi insert and also the hour numbers look wider than those on my pepsi.

I've tried to fit it today and I'm having real difficultly trying to get it into place. It will almost fit but I just can't see how the last bit is going to click into place.

Could I have been given a bezel for an older GMT model by mistake?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan

Thanks I've had a look at that thread and tried fiitting the insert with the bezel ring attached to the watch but it wont click in at all now - it seems like it is too big to fit between the glass and the bezel ring. When I do the same thing with the pepsi bezel it fits in fine.

The numbers on the black bezel are bigger than on the pepsi bezel - almost like the old 1675 models. Does this sound right for a 16710 bezel or could it be for a different model instead?

Plex crystal GMT's take a different insert than the sapphire models. I'd return it and head to a RSC. They'd be happy to install a new black one while you wait and then return the original so you have options.
Good luck,
dP

It's certainly possible you have an insert for an older series. Acryllic inserts and sapphire inserts have a slightly different OD and ID.

Thanks for your replies.

Having read a few more threads on here I'm pretty sure they've given me in insert for a GMT Master 1 or an Acryllic one! Bloody AD - I thought it looked a bit different when I picked it up and even asked them if it was definately the right one!

Also when I initally rang them to enquire about ordering a bezel insert and gave them the model no. (16710) they insisted that model no. related to the ceramic bezel version and the bezel would cost £200! I had no idea Rolex were making Pepsi Ceramic Bezel GMTs in 1995! Talk about incompetant!

The bezel is a little warped now so I just hope they'll give me my money back!
