Old Datejust question
Hello to All,
I currently wear a DJ 41 as my daily. A few years ago my GF passes away and I received his old 2tone DJ 1601 I think when I looked it up around 1978ish. Anyway I have it being serviced and the jubilee bracelet is gone and not repairable. I have realized the nightmare of finding a new replacement. I have 2 questions: 1- If I go leather who makes the best replacements? 2- What would be my best option for a replacement jubilee? The problem I have is I won’t wear it much so I’m having trouble justifying the cost of a new jubilee…. Not totally against it either…. |

Your best option for a jubilee replacement is Rolex
Delugs makes very nice straps but high quality leather straps are not hard to find. |

If I were you I would buy a normal black or brown alligator leather strap that you find easily.

Although I often preach against bracelet restorers because they don’t come out quite a well as everyone makes it out to be IMO. But on something like this I think Rolliworks, or some of the similar ones likely would be a great option. Much less cost wise than a new jubilee, not really perfect either but gives you wearability back at least. Sort of a happy medium if you will.

Rolex does not service bracelets. I would have it restored for sentimental reasons, there are a few how can work magic on these bracelets.

Bracelet restoration isn’t as good as new but it’s close and for a fraction of the cost to replace. I’d give rolliworks a go at that before I gave up on it.

I would look into bracelet restoration, if its not too expensive. In the meantime, I would order a leather strap. Easy to find whatever you want if you're a regular or long length. Most companies carry lots of readymade stock in those sizes at 20mm.
