Feedback pls 44MM RG 26401 (black subdials) vs 43MM Black Dial

Hi All,

As the title suggests…I’m considering trading my AP Offshore 44MM RG straight up for a 43MM Black Dial. I like the versatility of the 43 MM as a daily piece (more than 44 RG…I think?). Either way, I haven’t been able to try on any 43MM, so unsure if there’s a meaningful difference in how it wears. Not sure if this is a bad idea…

Any and all feedback welcomed…

Thanks!

From what I know the 43mm is virtual the same in every way in terms of sizing compared to 44m. AP measures bezel top for there pieces. 43mm with the bevel "acts" like 44mm. You can go to a boutique or AP house they all have 43mm on display where you can compare sizing .

In terms of how it wears, if you can try one on, I would. I never pulled the trigger on the 44 because it was too big on my wrist. I love the 43 and it wears amazing. Wears better on my wrist than even the 42 diver. I wear one of my 43’s fairly often. Very comfortable.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, no AP boutique near me. Certainly that would be an easy way to determine.

I guess, part of my question is whether it’s ill advised to trade a RG piece for the newer SS model and if the 43mm is that much more “wearable” compared to the 44MM?

Thanks again…

43mm does wear better than 44 ( I own RG 44 also).
But improvement does not offset RG to steel. Also for steel the taupe is quite a lot better than the black. Both points imo of course.
So I would keep as you are (I am !), unless you can justify cash in to go to 43 RG (I can’t as of now !)

You're definitely on the losing end of that deal by at least $10k at current used prices

I gave up my 44 after getting a 43, I prefer the subdial layout on the 44 but the fit and quick change strap on the 43 won out

Yup…perfect example of grey dealers taking profit from both ends of a trade.

I hear this. I like the 44MM just fine…though I know it’s a large watch. I’m told the 43mm wearability is really only noticed by enthusiasts that observe every little detail (like us). Not sure it’s really that much more “practical”. The 44MM wears large almost, I’m guessing the 43mm also wears larger?

I do love the taupe dial as well…perhaps this is the path to go…

I wear my 43 more than anything. It’s my favorite to put on. I never had a 44 but I can tell you it wears better somehow than the 42. Im a green light, but keep it rose gold.

I don't own either, but have tried both many times in various forms. 43mm is significantly more wearable than the 44mm on a ~ 7" wrist.

Thread needs some pictures (not a fair comparison though):

43 definitely feels and looks smaller on my wrist. I prefer the 44. I had the quick change strap setup retrofit onto one of my 44's and love it

43mm for the size, 44m for the dial layout

Dont like date placement on 43mm, looks so ordinary

Excellent shot. Love the color scheme of that ti 44MM.

Based on feedback here, the size is a major improvement to many (most). Though I’ve read/heard that it sits tall and the 44MM seems to be more flat and balanced across the wrist. My biggest issue with the 43MM (and I wonder if this would bother me in ownership) is the applied AP logo. Maybe not as bad in person? Nonetheless, in pics, AP needed to have designed this like all their other RO models…and not have a “plaque” with the logo.

Anyways…perhaps a nitpick, but when spending this much for a watch…the details matter.

My 42mm Vs my 43mm is a drastic size difference, my 43mm is a beast for sure
