Will a new rolex daytona platinum be rare?
Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing a rolex oyster perpetual cosmograph daytona platinum with ice blue dial. Will this watch ever be rare pike the other daytona or will I lose money on it? I want to buy this watch as an investment more than anything. Thanks in advance! |

Make sure you get the Johnson Rods checked before buying. Many have been known to be loose.

If you can buy it at RRP and you keep it unused in a safe for some time then you have chance to make some return on it after a couple of years. I don't see why it cannot form a part of a larger diversified investment portfolio that contains stocks, real estate, gold, art and even some watches.
I don't understand why it is a general consensus now that watches cannot be investment items. Yes, we are in a downtrend in watch prices but there were spectacular rises before and not only during the past couple of years. It is - of course - impossible to say which models' prices are going to fly in the future but I find too extreme to say categorically that watch investment is nonsense. |

Buy it at msrp and keep and wear for a decade and you will probably make a little on it. Not a good vehicle for investment based on market volatility but a cool watch to own and wear.
